PREFACE
~~~~~~~~
Every person accustomed to peruse a Directory is well aware of the many changes which take place, in a very short period, amongst the inhabitants of a large commercial town. The changes in establishments, the additions, and removals, (coming under observation,) while the work was at press, have been attended to, and given at the end.
As heretofore, the Belfast addresses are given under three different arrangements, 1st. In street reference, according to successive numbers; 2ndly. In a classified arrangement of professions, trades, and designations; and 3rdly. In alphabetical order.
Next in succession are the Institutions of the Town, the names of Noblemen, Magistrates, &c. of the Counties of Antrim and Down, the address and business of a number of the Professional Gentlemen, Merchants, Manufacturers, and the principal trades residing in the towns and vicinity of Antrim, Armagh, Ballymena, Banbridge, Bangor, Carrickfergus, Comber, Downpatrick, Dromore, Hillsborough, Lisburn, Lurgan, Portadown, and Tanderagee, are also given in this publication, in order to make the whole useful and satisfactory to commercial travellers and others.
