In addition to the foregoing, prizes for General Improvement were awarded to A. Glenn, Hanna, Jenkins, McKee, Monroe, and Rhodes.

In the year 1880, J. G. Mahaffy and W. G. Mulligan obtained Exhibitions at the Intermediate Examinations.

In the Junior Grade, J. G. Mahaffy was the First in order of merit from Ireland, out of 1,873 candidates who passed, being 375 marks above the second candidate, and 1,196 above the next boy from the Province of Ulster.

Stanley Ferguson obtained the Second Place in the Literary Scholarship of the first year at Queen’s College, Belfast.

Walter M. Hamilton obtained the Second Place in the Literary Scholarships of the first year at Queen’s College, Galway.
